Typical Challenges

Only 3.9% of Indonesian brands have international exposure.
And most Singapore companies entering Indonesia underestimate how much brand strategy changes when you cross cultures.

Whether you’re an Indonesian brand ready to go global or a Singapore company expanding into Southeast Asia’s largest consumer market, the problem is the same: you need a brand strategy built for the market you’re entering, not the one you’re leaving.

I’ve spent 13 years on both sides of that bridge. I know what works and what doesn’t.

The Brand Passport™

Every brand that goes international faces the same challenge: what stays, what changes, and what new story do you need to tell? The Brand Passport™ is my proprietary five-step framework for building brands that work across cultures, developed from 13 years of helping businesses navigate between Singapore, Indonesia, and Europe.

Step 1

Cultural Audit

We assess how your brand is perceived in your home market, and how those perceptions will translate (or not) in your target market. What signals trust in Jakarta may confuse customers in Singapore, and vice versa.

Step 2

Brand DNA Extraction

We identify what’s universal about your brand, the core proposition that transcends geography, and what’s culturally specific. This is the foundation everything else builds on.

Step 3

Market-Fit Positioning

We develop positioning that resonates in the target market without losing authenticity. This is where most brands fail, they either transplant their home market strategy unchanged, or they over-localise and lose what made them compelling.

Step 4

Cross-Cultural Brand Architecture

We build the visual identity, messaging framework, and brand guidelines that work across markets. Not a cookie-cutter translation, but a genuine cross-cultural brand system.

Step 5

Launch & Activate

We go to market with a strategy that’s been pressure-tested across cultures. I stay involved through the critical first 90 days to course-correct in real time.

How I Can Help

I’ve sat with CEOs in Jakarta who want their brands respected in Singapore. And with Singapore founders who know Indonesia is their biggest growth market, but don’t know how to show up there. Every engagement I take on starts with understanding where you are and where you want your brand to go.

About Yulia

I grew up between cultures. Trained as a designer in Singapore, studied in Milan, built businesses across Jakarta and Europe. That cross-cultural fluency isn’t something I learned from a textbook, it’s how I see the world.

I co-founded Creativeans in 2012. Since then I’ve helped brands across FMCG, healthcare, retail, tech, and finance figure out how to show up in markets that aren’t their own. I developed the Brand Passport™ methodology because I kept seeing the same problem:

brilliant brands that
couldn’t translate their story across borders.

I’m the co-author of Are You Brand Dead?, a 3 times keynote speaker at the Indonesia Retail Summit, and a Council Member at the Institute of Management Consultants (Singapore). But honestly? What I’m most proud of is the brands I’ve helped grow.
